Professor Prasanna Sooriakumaran (known to his patients as Prof PS, or simply PS) was born in Sri Lanka, but moved to the UK at a young age. He attended Tiffin School in South-West London, and at this time he discovered a passion for medicine, like his father before him.
Prof PS went to medical school in Nottingham, and his love of anatomy dissection classes consolidated his calling as a surgeon. He graduated with both a First Class Honours degree in Human Anatomy and Cell Biology, as well as a Medical Degree With Honours.
I liked using technology in surgery to make the operations less invasive and thus better for patients, and I also found the biology of prostate cancer fascinating, so I decided to become a robotic prostate cancer surgeon.”
